Does Wlog have a problem with the year 2000?
Wlog does not have a Y2K-problem.
Sometimes dives transferred with DataTrak show the
year 1900 by mistake.
However this is definitely not a Wlog errror; the
problem lies in the transfer software.
Fortunately you can correct those wrong dates with
WLog. Check the "Free edit" checkbox to be able to change all fields.
What's the difference between the demo and the full
version?
Basically none, the demo version is fully functional.
However the registration reminder with the four checkboxes is gone in the
full version. Utilization period 60 days.
When will the new version with even more features
finally be released?
Unfortunately I cannot name any dates as I
am fully occupied with my job and with giving diving lessons at the moment.
Do you plan a version for Windows CE?
No! Wlog has been created for 32bit Windows which
is totally different from Windows CE. Porting Wlog would be way to much
work for me.
How do the installation and update work?
For the installation just create any folder you
like and extract wlog.zip into it.
For the update you only have to replace wlog.exe
with the new version.
Transferring dives to my PC doesn't work! What's
wrong?
Transferring dives with Wlog only works with the
DOS interface cable; you cannot use the memomouse! You can however transfer
the dives with DataTrak first as the file formats are compatible.
Wlog can only be used with divecomputers from Uwatec's
Aladin series and compatible computers.
The dive profiles of newly transferred dives look
strange! What happened?
There are different file formats for the different
computer models (air-integrated, Nitrox, O2).
You propably changed Wlog's settings for your computer
(View->Types of dive computers). Please replace the file ctyp.ini with
the original file.
Transferring dives for the first time, I only get
the profiles for the last few dives! Where's the rest?
This is not a Wlog problem! The Aladin computers
only store profile data for the last 200 minutes.
Do you plan to include DataTalk's functionality to
change the dive computer's settings?
No, that's to complicated! When a problem occurs
during the transfer or when one of the settings is wrong, the dive computer
will be disabled and must be sent to Uwatec.
You can imagine that I do not want to program and
test such functionality.
I can transfer dives but after I save the logfile,
then close and restart Wlog the dives are gone!
This is a bug in the current release of Wlog. It
occurs when dives are transferred into an empty logfile.
Workaround: Manually insert a dive, then transfer
your dives, save the logfile and restart Wlog. Now all your dives should
be there and you can delete the manually inserted dive.
This bug will be fixed with the next release of
Wlog.
How to I transfer dives from my dive computer to
Wlog?
1. Start Wlog
2. Open the transfer window (Edit->Transfer)
3. Activate your dive computer
4. Connect the transfer cable to your dive computer
(red cable into the single connector on the right side, black cable into
the leftmost connector on top); Wlog will then recognize that the dive
computer is connected
5. Put your dive computer into logbook-mode
6. In logbook-mode display the most recent dive
(dive no. 1), which will start the transfer
Wlog does not show the No-Decompression-Limit and
the decompression information; will you include these in a future release?
This information isn't stored in the dive computer
but must be calculated. Unfortunately I do not have the ZH-L8 ADT calculation
model the Alaldin computers use.
Do Wlog and DataTrak calculate the average air consumption
differently? I have discrepancies between those two!
I do not know how Uwatec calculates the average
air consumption, but obviously the calculations differ.
I have verified Wlog's calculations and cannot detect
any errors.
Wlog calculates the average air consumption based
on used air (tanksize * pressure-loss), average depth and divetime, where
times at the surface are not used for the average depth and divetime calculation.
I cannot specify new buddies! Is that a bug?
There are two fields for the buddies. In the left
field (drop-down list) you can select previous buddies and add them two
the right field.
New buddies can only be specified in the right field.
What delimiter should be used to seperate a list
of partners?
Can I modify the list of buddies?
The buddy-list (as well as the list of sites) is
created dynamically and can therefore not be edited directly. You may only
change entries within the dive data.
Will you include dive computer xxx in a future release?
Wlog was primarily created for the Aladin series
of dive computers. Due to lack of time I will propably not be able to include
other computers.
Transferring data from my Mares Genius dive computer
doesn't work! What's wrong?
You need to use special software from Mares. Please
find the link on my software pages.
In Extra->Certifications, Equipement and Buddy adress
Wlog asks for a file; I don't have one! Am I missing something?
For these features the filenames are not fixed,
as several files might be used. If you are asked for a filename, just specify
one you like. Wlog will remember that name and will not ask again.
Do you have a manual for Wlog?
No. And I do not plan to create one. Most features
are self-explanatory or well known from DataTrak.
My screen-resolution is to small! What can I do?
Wlog was created for at least 800x600 and small
fonts!
When I display a dive profile in full-screen mode
the crosshair gets stuck!
This is a known bug for release 2.03d which will
be fixed in the next release.
Workaround: Check the "View->Settings->Save window
position" checkbox, then maximize and afterwards close the profile-window.
